Osolata, East Timor

Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, commonly known as Timor-Leste (Listen / ˌ i ː s TI mɔr ː /) (Tetum: Timor Loro sa'e), is a country in Southeast Asia, which includes the eastern half of Timor island near the islands of Atauro and Jaco, and Oecussi, exclave is north-west of the island in Indonesian West Timor. A small country with 15,410 km ² (5400 square kilometers) is located about 640 km (400 miles) north-west of Darwin, Australia.

East Timor was colonized by Portugal in the 16 th century and was known as Portuguese Timor until Portugal's colonial country. At the end of 1975, East Timor declared its independence, but later the same year was occupied by Indonesia, and the twenty-seventh province of Indonesia has declared the following year. In 1999, after the UN-sponsored self-determination act, has given control of the territory of Indonesia and East Timor was the first new sovereign state, the 21st Century May 20, 2002. East Timor is one of only two predominantly Roman Catholic country in Asia, the other is the Philippines.

East Timor has a lower middle income economy.It still suffering the effects of an independence struggle for decades against Indonesia, which caused damage to infrastructure and displacing thousands of civilians. 120th Place according to the Human Development Index (HDI).
