Astana (UCI Team Code: AST) is a team of professional bicycle racing team sponsored by Astana, a coalition of state-owned companies from Kazakhstan, named after its capital, Astana. UCI Astana has reached its position in the first year, 2007. After a doping scandal important, Kazakh Alexander Vinokourov the cyclist, the management team has been completed and the new management has brought the 2008 season. The team was then managed by Johan Bruyneel, a former U.S. Postal team leader / team Discovery Channel. While in Astana, Bruyneel was a great success, with the composition, the winners of the Grand Tour, Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer as well as runners, and Andreas Klöden, the team was on the brink of economic collapse in May 2009 . Control combat team of Vinokourov in the Vuelta Espana return Bruyneel 2009 and caused at least fourteen pilots to leave at the end of 2009 season, most in the RadioShack team. Only four Spanish riders, including Contador, and most of the Kazakhs left the team in 2010. These four Spaniards left the team throughout the Saxo Bank, SunGard in 2011.
