Mehrangarh Fort, located in the city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan state is one of the largest forts in India.
The fort is 400 feet (122 m) above the city and is surrounded by imposing thick walls. Within its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive patios. A winding road leads to and from the city below. The imprint of the cannon ball hit by attacking armies of Jaipur can still be seen on the other port. There are seven gates, including Jayapol (meaning "victory"), built by Maharaja Man Singh to commemorate his victories over the armies of Jaipur and Bikaner. Fattehpol (which also means "victory") The gate was built by Maharaja Ajit Singh to commemorate the defeat of the Mughals. Traces of these palms always attract much attention today.
Museum Mehrangarh fort is one of the well-stocked museums in Rajasthan.
