Mount Ararat

Mount Ararat (see below details of names) is a snow-covered volcanic cones to sleep in Turkey. It has two peaks: Great Ararat (the highest mountain in Turkey, and the entire Armenian plateau with an altitude of 5,137 m/16, 854 ft) and Little Ararat (with a height of 3896 with 12, 782 ft).

The massif of Mount Ararat is about 40 km (25 miles) in diameter. Iran-Turkey border is less Ararat foothills, the lower edge of the massif of Mount Ararat. It is here that the Tehran Convention of 1932 a change was made in Turkey borders, allowing it to occupy the eastern flank of the massif.

Mount Ararat in the Judeo-Christian tradition is associated with "mountains of Ararat" where, according to the book of Genesis, Noah's ark came to rest. It also plays an important role in the Armenian nationalism and 'irredentism.
